Project pictures coming soon

Not off to the best of starts... Sorry.

I have completed my project that I had mentioned in the previous post, but I didn't have my camera with me to take the pictures. I will get them taken and post the pictures hopefully tomorrow.

It was a lot of fun to work with the Reminisce Road Signs paper and embellishments. The project is on display at The Stamping and Scrapbooking Room. Stop on by if you are in the Greensboro, NC area and check it out. This line of paper would be lots of fun for any projects where travel or construction is the topic.

Be on the look out!

Be on the look out for my newest project! I'm helping out this weekend at the Stamping and Scrapbooking Room in Greensboro, NC while the owners are away for their son's wedding. So while I'm at the store, I hope to get this project finished. I'll give you a little hint... Bo Bunny & Reminisce paper.

That's all the hint you get! I know some customers have seen part of the project, but I hope they won't give it away!!! LOL

WooHoo

Just wanted to share the good news! I made the Design Team for StampingScrapping.com. Since there were 4 really good entries in the last round, Cindy couldn't decide, so she is having all 4 of us join the team!

Getting on a Design Team was one of my goals for this year. I guess I made that goal and now I can focus on getting published somewhere. I'm glad the waiting is over and that I don't have to worry any more.

Thanks to those who voted for me and thanks to those who said my work was good enough for a design team.

Branching out

I decided to branch out a little with my scrapbook pages. Instead of trying to get as many pictures on each page, I wanted to focus a little more on the quality of the photo. I had this picture of my son, who is difficult to get good pictures of, and I loved the quiet, angel-like he was while sitting in the surf at the beach. He was tired of being dragged down onto all the broken shells just a few feet further out, so he put up his boogie board and sat down to play in the 'safe' zone.

The page you see below captured that quiet worn out boy. The photo was taken at just that perfect moment.

I used Basic Grey papers from the Ambrosia line. The 'wings' are cut from the Marmalade paper. I just loved that element in the paper. That is what I saw when I picked up that piece of paper.

I distressed the photo corners with different sized punches and layered Distress Inks over. I used a few Dew Drops around the page. Here you see the close up of the water splashing over my son.

The sun was cut from the Cricut Solutions cart Soccer. I just loved the look. I cut it out at 2.5" and then cut the shadow out. I layered the pieces with foam dots to give better dimension. I also inked both pieces. The punched out border on the bottom is from Tonic Studios Border Punch system. I used paisley #1 cause it looked like little water drops.

On the side, I used one of Tim Holtz's masks with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. Also, for the mesh, I used Drywall mesh tape and inked it with Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. The lettering on the layout is Grungeboard that I inked with Black Soot and the covered with a bit of Spiced Marmalade Distress Stickles. The 'wings' also have Stickles.

The top corner of the pages is distressed like the photo is and I used a Stamper's Anonymous Stamp by Tim Holtz.

All in all, I'm happy with the way the layout took shape. It took me a long time to distress my photo like I did, but in the end It was just the look I wanted.

DT entry #2

Thought I would show you what I did for my 2nd entry for Cindy E's of StampingScrapping.com Design Team.
Since we were all sent the same items (with a couple exceptions) I decided to forgo the card or scrapbook page. Instead, I made this little book. The only thing on the front that wasn't included was the jellybean paper.

The inside was the most difficult. I didn't want to add pictures as I wanted my work be the statement and focus. Each tag overlaps the one on the other side. I did add a little of my own embellishments. I think that it came out pretty good and would be cute to send to a parent, sibling or friend for Easter.

Well, what do you think? I hope that it is accepted by the judges.

Tomorrow, I hope to show you a page I did on my son. It's an adventure into scrapping much different from a lot of people I've met.

Good smelling cards

Have you ever received a card that smelled yummy? Do you want to send cards to others that smell like lavender, chocolate or how about your favorite beverage? Now you can and possibly win blog candy in the process. Check out StampingScrapping, leave a comment and link the site to your blog. You can order the card scents directly from www.scentmycards.com They come in a roll-on bottle. Cindy has awesome customer service and quick delivery.

Tell her Lynna sent ya! I'm trying to figure out which ones I want...

DT entry #1

Okay, so a lot of people wanted to see what my 1st entry was for design team at Stamping Scrapping. The theme was Valentines and we had to use things that Cindy @ Stamping Scrapping sells. The project had to contain 80% of items found on her site.
Well, I had just bought some more stamps from Outlines Rubber Stamps. I bought the layered heart which Cindy sells.
Here is what I did with that stamp:

But the heart was plain to me and I scoured around all my idea books and print outs and came across a box made using the Scor-Pal. It was perfect for my layered heart. So here is the finished box and heart ornament...

I used many products from Cindy's store and a few of my own.

Here I am!!!!

I swore a few years ago, that I wouldn't start a blog, but here I am... I said that about MySpace too and I have a page there too, not that I visit it often.

So, now that I have taken the plunge, what is it that I want to accomplish here? Well my goal for this year is to join a Design Team outside of the group at my LSS and to get something of mine published in a book or magazine.

Having said that, I do have one possible DT entry and we are waiting for judging to start. I hate this part, the scrutiny, the tearing down of my work, the uncertainty of the whole process. But I know that I did what I could at that time. Of course, now, I could add a bunch of stuff or have done a couple things different. That's life and I'll just let it go and not obsess about something I can't change.

Well, I will be writing blog entries here and at The Scrapbooking Room. The Stamping and Scrapbooking Room in Greensboro, NC is where I teach a few classes. Betty & Eric, the owners, have a very welcoming store. It can be overwhelming on the first visit, but they will point you in the right direction and make you feel at home.

In the next few days, I'll show you some of the things I have been working on lately including my DT entries. Well, that is when I figure out how to upload and place photos! Until I get things going and more comfortable about posting on a regular basis, I know entries will go in stages. Sometimes it may be several then it could be awhile in between postings.

Thanks for stopping by...
