CHA 2009 Day 1-Workshops

Today I had 2 workshops...
Clearly Capable with Sally Lynn MacDonald and Distress the holidays with Tim Holtz. Sally Lynn was a wealth of information on using the clear acrylic. I have learned a lot to take into my design of these albums and you will see more of them from me. I don't have pictures yet of the album that we did as I didn't have enough time to finish the way I want, so I will post those when I get home and can finish it more. We used Prima flowers, bling, paper & transparencies. We colored with Copic Markers on the transparencies and also used the air brush system on some of the pieces and to change the chipbord letters a little. Thanks Sally Lynn for such great info and I can't wait to begin to play!

In the Distress The Holidays class, Tim introduced us to the new Rock Candy Distress
Stickles and the new Distress Crackle Paint Rock Candy (this is a clear crackle). A difference between the new Crackle paint and Crackle Accents is the cracks are much smaller in the Distress Crackle. It is a very cool product and I can't wait to play with it on a lot of different surfaces including pictures! I have fallen more in love with Distress Stickles!

The pictures below show the front of the Grunge book we did with some close-ups of the Distress Stickles and Distress Crackle Paint. The very last picture is of all the goodies we got in the Ranger class.

Enjoy and check back tomorrow for more photos from CHA!

Wow, well it can be a bit scary being the first but I've got a great card to showoff!
The images I used is from Best Witches. I've been trying to use up my stash, so the paper and card stock are things that I already had. I even found a whole set of Harvest ribbons which I came in handy!
I used the Octagon Nestibilities for the background and saying. The saying is from the Thankful set of stamps. I added a few punched leaves and bling to top off the card. Of course I have to use my Distress Inks on the saying! I can't live without them. Thanks for taking a look.

Blog Candy alert!!!! Not only will commenting on this blog enter you into the drawing for a set of stamps, but I will choose one additional person to win Blog Candy. I will use a random # generator to choose the winner. The Blog Candy will be packed full of Fall/Winter related items. Good luck!!!

New Stamps from StampinScrapping.com

Well, I've been working on a few examples of cards made from new stamps from Cindy E. at StampingScrapping.com. I was working from a digital source with these until the stamps come in, so thereby limited a little. The new stamps will be shipping in the beginning of August.

What I find nice is that they will work with each other. Example, the whipped cream will work on any of the glasses or the lime/lemon wedge will as well. It makes the sets more usable. I think once I get my hands on the actual set, then I can do a little masking to make some interesting layering effects. Another wonderful thing is there will be card scents to go along with them. I know Cindy is working on more scents to go along with these stamps. These will make great 'girlfriend' cards! I like to leave mine blank inside, but you could easily dress up the insides with the little extras in the sets (strawberries, cherries, etc). Give your girlfriends card to cheer them up or to make a girls night out.
Here are a couple of my samples:

Although you can really see in the pictures, I used UTEE on both stemware to give it a better glass look. I used a clear embossing powder over the colored part of the glass to give it a little shine, but the stem of the glass looks a little thicker in real life.

In the second card, I had a piece of vellum that had the martini glasses on it, so I just had to use it in this project! Both cards are fairly simple, but sometimes simple is the best. I had to hold myself back so I wouldn't overdo them and take the focus off the stamps and sayings.

You can preorder the sets from Cindy E. Just stop by StampingScrapping.com and check them out. She has a special if you purchase all 4 sets.

Mojo Monday Challenge 94

Well, I'm trying to get into doing a least one or two things a week. Today I finished a card for the Mojo Monday blog. You can visit their site to see the sketch.

I used the Support the Girls stamp set from Crafty Secrets. For each set sold retail, Crafty Secrets donates $1 to the Susan Koman fund for breast cancer research. The papers include Basic Grey, Core'dinations and mulberry paper.
Hope you like...
