Wow, well it can be a bit scary being the first but I've got a great card to showoff!
The images I used is from Best Witches. I've been trying to use up my stash, so the paper and card stock are things that I already had. I even found a whole set of Harvest ribbons which I came in handy!
I used the Octagon Nestibilities for the background and saying. The saying is from the Thankful set of stamps. I added a few punched leaves and bling to top off the card. Of course I have to use my Distress Inks on the saying! I can't live without them. Thanks for taking a look.

Blog Candy alert!!!! Not only will commenting on this blog enter you into the drawing for a set of stamps, but I will choose one additional person to win Blog Candy. I will use a random # generator to choose the winner. The Blog Candy will be packed full of Fall/Winter related items. Good luck!!!

Branching out

I decided to branch out a little with my scrapbook pages. Instead of trying to get as many pictures on each page, I wanted to focus a little more on the quality of the photo. I had this picture of my son, who is difficult to get good pictures of, and I loved the quiet, angel-like he was while sitting in the surf at the beach. He was tired of being dragged down onto all the broken shells just a few feet further out, so he put up his boogie board and sat down to play in the 'safe' zone.

The page you see below captured that quiet worn out boy. The photo was taken at just that perfect moment.

I used Basic Grey papers from the Ambrosia line. The 'wings' are cut from the Marmalade paper. I just loved that element in the paper. That is what I saw when I picked up that piece of paper.

I distressed the photo corners with different sized punches and layered Distress Inks over. I used a few Dew Drops around the page. Here you see the close up of the water splashing over my son.

The sun was cut from the Cricut Solutions cart Soccer. I just loved the look. I cut it out at 2.5" and then cut the shadow out. I layered the pieces with foam dots to give better dimension. I also inked both pieces. The punched out border on the bottom is from Tonic Studios Border Punch system. I used paisley #1 cause it looked like little water drops.

On the side, I used one of Tim Holtz's masks with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. Also, for the mesh, I used Drywall mesh tape and inked it with Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. The lettering on the layout is Grungeboard that I inked with Black Soot and the covered with a bit of Spiced Marmalade Distress Stickles. The 'wings' also have Stickles.

The top corner of the pages is distressed like the photo is and I used a Stamper's Anonymous Stamp by Tim Holtz.

All in all, I'm happy with the way the layout took shape. It took me a long time to distress my photo like I did, but in the end It was just the look I wanted.
